How this website uses cookies and storage
This policy explains the browser storage and third-party services used on digitalroute.uk. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
Essential storage
We use a small item in your browser’s local storage to remember your separate choices for analytics and third-party media / Vimeo. Necessary storage is always on. Your choices are used for 180 days from when you save them, unless you change them or clear your browser storage sooner. Once a choice expires, we ask again when you use the website. The preference does not contain your name, contact details or browsing history.
Cloudflare Turnstile
Our enquiry forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to help protect the website from spam and automated submissions. Turnstile is treated as essential because the form cannot be submitted securely without it. Cloudflare may process limited technical information to provide this security check.
Optional Vimeo videos
The social media page includes video projects hosted by Vimeo. The Vimeo player is not loaded unless you allow Video / Vimeo and then select a project. If it is loaded, Vimeo may set cookies or use similar technologies under its own privacy and cookie policies. Turning video permission off closes and unloads any open player. Your browser settings can be used to remove cookies already stored by Vimeo.
Analytics and advertising
We use Google Tag Manager to manage website tags and Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use the website. Non-essential analytics will only be enabled where the visitor has allowed analytics through the cookie controls. We do not use advertising cookies at launch.
Visitors can change their choice at any time using Cookie Settings in the footer.
Cookies and storage we use
The table includes provider defaults for the planned services. The final deployed cookie names and settings are awaiting verification before publication.

| Category | Provider | Cookie / storage name or technology | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Necessary | Digital Route | digital-route-consent (local storage) | Remembers separate analytics and video choices and their version. | Choice expires after 180 days. An expired record is removed when the website next checks it. |
| Necessary | Cloudflare | Turnstile security check; cf_clearance only if pre-clearance is enabled | Protects forms from automated abuse. | Turnstile tokens expire after 5 minutes. Any clearance-cookie lifetime depends on the deployed Cloudflare settings; deployment verification pending. |
| Third-party media | Vimeo | vuid; player; flags | Video analytics, playback preferences and player features after video permission. | Provider defaults: vuid 2 years; player and flags 1 year. Actual deployed player storage must be verified. |
| Third-party media security | Vimeo / Cloudflare | player_clearance; cf_clearance; _cf_bm; _cfuvid | Protects the optional Vimeo player against bots and abuse. | Provider defaults: 7 days; 1 year; 30 minutes; session, respectively. Actual deployed player storage must be verified. |
| Analytics | Google Analytics 4 | _ga; _ga_<container-id> | Distinguishes visitors and maintains session information after analytics permission. | Google default: up to 2 years. Exact suffix and configured expiry require deployment verification. |
| Analytics tag management | Google Tag Manager | Loads and manages approved analytics tags only after analytics permission; not itself an analytics cookie. | Runs on the page while enabled. Cookies set by its tags have their own durations. |

Change your choice
You can reopen the preference panel at any time using “Cookie Settings” in the website footer. Use the separate Analytics and Video / Vimeo choices, then select “Save choices”, or use “Necessary only” or “Allow all”. You can also remove stored preferences through your browser settings. If analytics is already running, turning it off refreshes the page to stop those tags.
